Consultation
In a free consultation with a new therapist, you can expect a structured and supportive environment. The therapist will introduce themselves, share their qualifications, and explain their approach to therapy. They will ask about your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve, helping to clarify your goals.
During the session, the therapist may inquire about your background and current life circumstances to gain a better understanding of your situation. They will also explain how therapy works, including the confidentiality guidelines and session structure.
You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapist's methods or the process itself. This process is believed to help the brain reprocess these memories, reducing their emotional impact and fostering more adaptive coping mechanisms.
